Caitlin Wilson's Kitchen Design Features a Secret Spot

It seems kind of crazy, but I think I ordered some Kravet fabric for a client and it took three months to get there. What I realized was, “Oh, I actually have a real opportunity here. Over the course of a few months, I was like, “OK, I’m going to do this.” So in 2011, I launched the textile line. Three or four years later, I had a new baby and was living overseas with my husband in Dubai. I was looking for the next thing that I was going to do, because I was settled into my new life as a mom, and I was ready for something to focus on, so I transferred my personal blog into more of a design blog. I was writing about my experience living overseas and sharing lots of pictures of my life [abroad], and traveling with my baby and my husband.

of the Top Interior Designers In (and Around!) LA

I’m operating in a very limited capacity when it comes to interior design. I still take on a select clientele—a few every year—because I don’t have time to take on very many projects. I’m known for a specific color palette and I do things my own way, and if I don’t find what I’m looking for, I make it myself. How would you describe your content in those days, and how has it evolved? I was writing mostly about personal experiences—projects I was doing, life as an expat, my travels. It was definitely a lot of me, and interestingly, it’s always been this combination of people wanting to see behind-the-scenes of my life or what I’m creating or doing.

A magnetic personality and sought-after tastemaker, Peti Lau is known for her bold, eccentric modern touches, artful, and timeless interiors. Woodson & Rummerfield’s House of Design

A go-to designer for discerning clientele and celebrities alike, all of who revere his raw yet refined sensibilities. As principal of his eponymous firm, Ryan has a gift for translating luxury into exquisitely designed spaces. An artist at heart, Stephanie Hatten founded SH Interiors to create spaces designed with her clients’ tastes in mind. Raised in Louisiana’s rich culture, antiques are one of Stephanie’s passions. This love leads to the fabulous incorporation of one-of-a-kind pieces into her designs.

How to generate income on social media without brand partnerships

It’s interesting because the business and the following really grew together. My life changed all of a sudden when I realized that I had this power to have a business and create a brand. It took several months and a lot of back-end work and troubleshooting and fixing, but when it all went live, it was this moment when I realized that I could do anything. Now it probably doesn’t feel as much that way when someone launches an online business, but at that time, it felt like the world was my oyster.

Passione is a custom residential and commercial interior design firm owned by Sue and Giampiero Capelli. Masters of furniture refinishing and restoration with over twenty-five years of experience, Passione offers a complete custom design experience. What’s the biggest thing you’re struggling with today on social media? You can’t plan anything—[in terms of] what’s going to work, or even just marketing tools like SEO and advertising—there’s just so much just constantly changing because of technology. The power that it has over our small businesses is really scary. I think we’re struggling to know, for example, should we really be creating as many wallpaper patterns this year?

The countertops, a soothing calacatta marble, will seamlessly flow into the backsplash. That’s especially true at our house, where five children and two adults each have their own activities and agendas. Amid the bustle, achieving a peaceful energy wherever I can is a big priority for me. This space—with its double oven, fridge, and freezer—joins two highly trafficked areas.

One of my favorite things about our kitchen is the natural light that streams in through a wall of windows. I want to our family and friends to feel that same, warm glow after the sun sets. To set the mood and achieve a sense of artistry, I’ll use a mix of lamps and wall sconces, canned lighting, pendants and chandeliers. With the proper placement, you can have light dance just the way you’d like it in any room. That doesn’t mean, however, that our kitchen can’t or shouldn’t be soft, inviting, and comfortable. We’re going with a light and fresh color palette, with shades of pale blues and sophisticated, deeper greens.

My services include trial graphics, expert reports, declarations, depositions and testimony. As a result of my education, teaching, and research experience, I have developed significant expertise in recognizing and analyzing the elements and styles of global textile designs. A Southern California native, Chris Barrett’s work is informed by the region she calls home. She applies her unique signature of fresh, open spaciousness to a wide spectrum of projects, ranging from a Manhattan penthouse to a modern villa in Cabo San Lucas, as well as a myriad of California locations.

With over a decade of experience, Olivia has had the joy of working on a wide range of award-winning projects, including residential, retail, office, and restaurant design. Style radiates from everything she creates, making Olivia Erwin easily one of the top interior designers in LA. Founded in 1997, Timothy Corrigan Inc. is considered one of the leading interior design firms in the world. Known for creating timeless and comfortably elegant interiors from offices in LA and Paris. Appearing in over 1,000 publications and 25 countries, Timothy Corrigan is most certainly one of the top interior designers in LA. As soon as Instagram came out, it was like, “OK, well, this is different.” It didn’t require as much writing and time, but it was nice to quickly share, especially because I was so busy when I actually launched the collection.

But more recently, I recognized that this could be fun if we don’t take it too seriously. So I do let people in a little bit on Caitlin Wilson Design, and I definitely have played around with it. I’m not doing it all the time every day; it’s just a fun complement to the brand. Designers Mark Cutler and Nichole Schulze come to cutlerschulze with a combined 40 years of experience in creating dynamic residential and commercial spaces. With projects globally, cutlerschulze creates designs that are familiar, timeless, and effortlessly chic. I love to do it with fashion because I’ve always been the face of my brand—that’s what you get when you name your business after yourself.

People started following me as a person, not really as a textile designer. If you’ve ever visited Caitlin Wilson’s charming Henderson Avenue store, you know she’s all about making things pretty. That’s the foundation on which her signature classic and feminine interiors and product designs are built.

We’ve implemented more strategy [since building] a more advanced team, and I think Instagram itself has become more advanced in reporting and helping us analyze. It’s a very complex system—with this crazy technology-driven world that we live in, especially now with AI, it’s like, who knows what we’re going to be doing next? We’ve definitely gotten more advanced in trying to understand [those analytics] because we don’t want to waste our time, and I only have so much time to even be at the office because of my family life and my other projects. I worked for a few interior designers, but always really knew I had a passion for textiles.
